With 37 first-place votes and 61 second-place votes, he totaled 368 points, leading the All-NBA second team that also featured Anthony Edwards, Kevin Durant, Kawhi Leonard, and Anthony Davis. Despite coming in just 59 points behind the lowest scorer on the first team, Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics, Brunson’s performance was instrumental in leading the Knicks to one of their best seasons in franchise history.
Brunson’s impressive season was marked by his career highs in points per game (28.7), shooting percentage (48 percent), and assists per game (6.7). His leadership and skill on the court were crucial in guiding the Knicks to success. In addition to his All-NBA selection, Brunson was also voted to his first All-Star game and placed fifth in MVP voting.
The First Team All-NBA lineup for the season included Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Nikola Jokic, Luka Doncic, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Tatum. This recognition is a testament to Brunson’s outstanding play and his contributions to the Knicks’ success during the 2023-24 season.
