Indiana University Health (IU Health) has announced that it will eliminate noncompete clauses for physicians practicing primary care, with the new policy taking effect on December 15. This decision goes beyond recent legislative requirements and showcases IU Health’s dedication to promoting professional growth and patient-centered care.

Starting August 1, new employment agreements for IU Health’s medical group, the IU Health Medical Group, will not include noncompete clauses. This is in line with the organization’s commitment to creating an environment where physicians can deliver excellent care without obstacles, ultimately enhancing health outcomes in the communities they serve.

Kevin Gebke, senior vice president of Community Medicine at IU Health, emphasized the importance of this decision. By removing noncompete clauses, IU Health aims to promote professional growth and provide patient-centered care without any barriers or limitations. This decision aligns with the organization’s mission to enhance the health and well-being of Indiana residents.

IU Health is also examining noncompete clauses for physicians in other medical specialties. The organization remains committed to assessing the impact of noncompete clauses on its mission and ongoing evaluation of this topic to ensure alignment with their goals. This decision demonstrates IU Health’s commitment to its patients and community members by providing them with access to high-quality healthcare services without any restrictions or limitations.
