During a meeting with Prime Minister Mohammed Mustafa of the Palestinian National Authority, Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani announced that Italy has resumed funding for UNRWA. Tajani emphasized Italy’s desire to play a bridging role and intensify efforts to end the military conflict in Gaza. He also announced new financing of 35 million euros for the Palestinian population, with 5 million allocated to UNRWA and 30 million to the “Food for Gaza” initiative.

Tajani discussed the conflict in Gaza with Mustafa and informed him about the new funding arrangements. Italy has resumed specific projects intended to assist Palestinian refugees, subject to rigorous controls to prevent support for terrorism. Tajani reiterated Italy’s full support for the Palestinian administration and expressed the country’s commitment to peace efforts and an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

As G7 presidency, Italy is dedicated to working for peace and supporting the Palestinian Authority. Mustafa expressed pride in starting his European visit in Italy and appreciated Italy’s commitment to peace. Tajani also announced a new aid package of 30 million euros to continue supporting the Palestinian population, including the “Food for Gaza” initiative. Italy reaffirmed its support for a two-state solution and encouraged a political process towards lasting peace.

Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni also met with Mustafa to reiterate Italian support for sustainable ceasefire efforts and humanitarian assistance in Gaza. Italy’s commitment to helping the civilian population of Gaza through initiatives like “Food for Gaza” was emphasized. Both leaders stressed the importance of restarting a political process for lasting peace based on the two-state solution. Additionally, Tajani discussed ongoing development and strengthening efforts aimed at supporting the Palestinian Authority
