A recent report published in the New York Times has confirmed that an Israeli attack on Iran’s air defense system near the Natanz nuclear facility caused damage to the S-300PMU2 strategic surface-to-air missile battery located in Isfahan. According to sources, fighter jets launched advanced missiles outside of Iranian airspace to target the air defense system. Satellite images from CNN showed no damage to the Iranian Air Force base near Isfahan, contrary to initial claims.

The attack was precise and targeted a crucial part of Iran’s air defense system, according to reports. Vehicles carrying interceptor missiles were visible in photos before the attack but could not be identified after it, indicating the precision of the strike. The use of a weapon with special technology allowed Israel to evade Iranian radar and detection systems during the attack on Iran, according to another report in the New York Times.

The decision to avoid launching from Jordanian airspace was likely a gesture to keep Jordan out of the conflict. Missile remains found in Iraq were believed to be parts of missiles launched by Israel to hit Iran’s air defense systems, according to various reports. The “Financial Times” newspaper identified these missile remains as parts of Israeli Blue Sparrow or Silver Sparrow missiles or a Rocks missile. It speculated that the attack in southern Syria on the same night as the attack in Iran aimed to clear the way for Israeli aircraft launching advanced missiles at targets in Iraq and Syria.

Iran confirmed that its air defense system near the Natanz nuclear facility was undamaged despite claims made after the attack. Despite this, it is clear that Israel was able to penetrate and damage Iran’s defense systems with precision, sending a message about its capabilities and willingness to strike in sensitive regions like Syria and Iraq.
