Following the Hamas and Islamic Jihad’s willingness to reach a positive agreement on a ceasefire, reports indicate that they presented their response to mediators from Qatar and Egypt. Meanwhile, an Israeli government representative stated support for the UN resolution for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. The representative reiterated that Israel would not end the war until all its war aims were achieved, including destroying Hamas’ military capabilities, freeing all hostages, and ensuring that Gaza would not pose a threat in the future.
In Jenin, at least three people were reported killed during an Israeli military operation on Tuesday. A special unit of the Israeli army carried out a raid in Kafr Dan, north of Jenin, where armed Palestinians opened fire on them. The troops responded with force and were supported by a combat helicopter during the battle. According to Israeli media, members of an undercover special unit entered the town to make an arrest.
Jenin and its surrounding areas are known for being strongholds of militant Palestinians, leading to repeated raids by the Israeli army.
