According to Israeli media reports, Jerusalem is opposing a new version of a resolution on the Gaza Strip being promoted by the United States in the UN Security Council. The main points of contention for Israel are the call for both sides of the conflict to implement ceasefire proposals without delay and without conditions, as well as the exclusion of a buffer zone in the Gaza Strip.

Israel’s permanent representative to the UN, Gilad Erdan, has communicated Jerusalem’s position to the US representative at the UN. The United States presented an amended draft resolution on Monday to support President Joe Biden’s ceasefire proposal. This new version differs from the previous one by calling on both sides to act, whereas the previous version only addressed Hamas.

The United States has been working closely with Israel and other regional powers to find a solution to the ongoing conflict in Gaza. President Biden has called for an immediate ceasefire and has urged all parties involved in the conflict to work towards a peaceful resolution.

However, despite these efforts, there remains disagreement over key issues such as whether or not a buffer zone should be established in Gaza and how hostilities should be resolved between Hamas and Israel. These differences have led to stalled negotiations and continued violence in Gaza.

Israeli news channel Keshet reported that Jerusalem is against the resolution as it does not align with Israel’s offer to Hamas, which involves a complete cessation of hostilities in exchange for the release of hostages. US Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield has circulated the draft resolution among Security Council members in hopes of gaining their support.
