Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna has won the League Managers Association’s manager of the year award, beating top managers like Pep Guardiola and Mikel Arteta. McKenna had been in contention to become Chelsea’s next manager, but he is no longer a candidate for the position.

Instead, the leading candidates for the Chelsea manager role include Roberto de Zerbi, Enzo Maresca, and Thomas Frank. Ipswich is keen on retaining McKenna and is expected to offer him a new contract, even though he may not renew his deal. The club would need to pay at least £4 million in compensation if another club wants to hire him. While de Zerbi and Maresca are eager to make the move to Chelsea, there is limited information about talks with Frank, who has also been linked to Manchester United.

Chelsea hopes to appoint a new manager within the next week, pending negotiations surrounding compensation with the chosen manager’s current club.
