The 2024 World Beer Cup recently announced its winners, with one Iowa brewery taking home a prestigious prize. Exile Brewery Co. in Des Moines claimed a silver medal for its Munich-style dunkel beer known as G.G., beating out 65 other beers from various countries in the competition.

Beer enthusiasts often refer to the World Beer Cup as the “Olympics of beer competitions,” recognizing it as the largest and most esteemed beer competition globally. The event honors gold, silver, and bronze medalists across 110 beer styles, with the ceremony held in Las Vegas.

Among the winners was Blind Tiger Brewery & Restaurant in Topeka, Kansas, which secured the gold medal for its Munich Dunkles. Additionally, Sturdy Shelter Brewing in Batavia, Illinois, earned the bronze for its Wilson Street Dunkel.

The 2024 World Beer Cup featured 290 judges from 37 countries who evaluated 9,300 beers from 2,060 breweries across 50 nations.
