At WWDC, Apple announced that the upcoming iOS 18 update will introduce several new features to texting on iPhone. One of the most anticipated additions is the ability to schedule text messages to be sent at a later time. This feature can be particularly useful for sending reminders or happy birthday messages to friends.

In addition to scheduling messages, iOS 18 will also allow users to format their texts with options like bolding, italics, strikethrough, and underlining. This added level of customization will give users more control over the appearance of their messages and allow them to express themselves more effectively.

Another exciting feature in iOS 18 is the introduction of emoji and sticker tapbacks for reacting to messages. While existing tapbacks like thumbs-up or -down, heart, laugh, exclamation point, and question mark are still available, the new tapbacks offer even more ways to respond to messages and show your emotions.

Furthermore, Apple is updating the existing tapbacks with a design refresh that will make them look even better than before. Along with tapbacks, new text effects like “shake” and “bloom” are being introduced to add some flair to messages. Some text effects will be automatically suggested based on your message, but you can also manually add any effect you want.

Overall, these enhancements aim to make messaging on iPhone feel more like emailing or slacking while still maintaining its unique characteristics. With these new features in iOS 18, iPhone users can now communicate more efficiently and creatively than ever before.
