Amazon Prime Video has started filming on the second season of Maxton Hall — The World Between Us. Set in a UK private school but filmed in Germany by UFA Fiction, the show quickly became Amazon’s biggest ever non-U.S. original launch after its debut on May 9. It rose to the top of Prime Video charts in 120 territories and made stars out of leads Damian Hardung and Harriet Herbig-Matten, generating interest in Hanover where it is filmed.

The new season picks up after a night together in Oxford, where everything seems perfect for Ruby Bell, who wins a scholarship to an elite college, until a twist of fate changes everything. Returning for the second season are Sonja Weißer, Ben Felipe, Fedja van Huêt, Runa Greiner, Justus Riesner, and Andrea Guo.

UFA Fiction is once again behind the production under Fremantle with producers Markus Brunnemann and Ceylan Yildirim serving as showrunner and head writer alongside producer Valentin Debler and director Martin Schreier. The series is based on Mona Kasten’s book “Save You” and is expected to run for three seasons. However, Petra Hengge from Amazon MGM Head of Scripted TV mentioned that there might be an extension to season 2 with more episodes than initially planned. The exact episode count for season 2 has not been revealed yet.
