Intermountain Health is revolutionizing healthcare by addressing the social determinants of health. They understand that safe and affordable housing is crucial to achieving good health, which is why they have dedicated resources to help subsidize affordable housing efforts in the communities they serve.
Since 2019, Intermountain Health has provided over $110 million in loans and other investments for affordable housing projects. They work closely with partners like Mercy Community Capital to provide innovative financing arrangements to developers when conventional financing is not available or affordable. Recently, Intermountain contributed $4 million towards a new 247-unit affordable rental property aimed at serving individuals with low incomes, seniors, farmworkers, formerly unhoused individuals, and those with special needs. This project aligns with their commitment to improve the overall well-being of their patients beyond the hospital walls.
Through their efforts, Intermountain Health has supported the development of over 2,000 units of affordable housing, benefiting more than 900 individuals. They plan to continue their partnership with Mercy Community Capital to pursue additional affordable housing opportunities in the states where they operate. By addressing housing needs, Intermountain Health is demonstrating their commitment to improving the overall well-being of their patients beyond traditional healthcare services.
