In late 2025, Intermountain Primary Children’s Hospital will launch a new state-of-the-art behavioral health center in Taylorsville. The facility will replace the current Wasatch Canyons Behavioral Health Campus and expand its services to include a walk-in crisis center and mental health crisis care for youth. The new facility is expected to cost $96 million, with a $25 million investment from the State of Utah and community support from Primary Promise.

The new center will house Intermountain’s pediatric behavioral health services and work to coordinate initiatives, projects, and collaborations to address pediatric mental and behavioral health across Intermountain’s seven-state region. The 90,000 square foot medical center will feature a walk-in crisis center, an inpatient unit designed for youth with autism and neurodiverse needs, outpatient spaces, day treatment, group therapy, and family engagement areas.

Leaders at Intermountain believe the new health center will help fulfill their “Primary Promise” of creating a model for children’s healthcare nationwide. The old Wasatch Canyons campus, originally built in the 1980s and converted to a behavioral health facility more recently, no longer meets the growing need for services. The new medical center is scheduled to open in late 2025.
