Hunter Biden, the son of the American president, could potentially face 25 years in prison after a jury decided to withdraw from deliberating on his guilt or innocence on Monday. The twelve-member jury was tasked with determining whether Biden, who is 54 years old and facing charges for violating the weapons law, was guilty or innocent. Despite evidence against him being “overwhelming,” Biden has maintained his plea of not guilty.

The indictment against Hunter Biden accuses him of making false statements on forms to obtain firearms in 2018, allegedly concealing his drug addiction. This is the first time that the child of a sitting American president has been charged with a crime. If convicted, Biden’s son could face a lengthy prison sentence, although it is unlikely to result in actual jail time. President Biden has stated that he will not use his presidential pardon power if his son is convicted.

The trial resumed on Tuesday morning as the jury continued their deliberations on whether Hunter Biden is guilty or innocent. This high-profile case has garnered widespread attention and will be a significant moment in determining the outcome.
