France’s star striker, Kylian Mbappe, is in doubt for their upcoming match against the Netherlands at Euro 2024 after breaking his nose during their opening game against Austria. The 25-year-old suffered the injury during an aerial challenge and was taken to a hospital in Dusseldorf for treatment.

Fortunately, Mbappe does not require surgery for his injury, but he may need to wear a protective mask. The French Football Federation (FFF) will provide an update on Mbappe’s condition on Wednesday.

France manager Didier Deschamps expressed concern for Mbappe’s well-being despite him not scoring at a European Championship. Despite this setback, Mbappe has been a key player for France and has scored 47 goals in 80 appearances for his country.

Mbappe is set to join Real Madrid after Euro 2024 when his contract with Paris St-Germain expires. Former Spain international Cesc Fabregas believes wearing a mask due to injury will not significantly impact Mbappe’s performance. Fabregas played with a mask while injured and claims that it is uncomfortable at first but players usually adapt quickly and it does not affect their gameplay.

Based on his own experience with a broken nose, Fabregas is optimistic that Mbappe will be ready to play against the Netherlands.
