India has just won the T20 World Cup in Barbados, marking their second title in the tournament and ending an 11-year drought for an ICC trophy. However, the team’s celebration was short-lived as they were stranded due to a category 4 hurricane that hit Barbados.

The specially chartered Air India flight, named AIC24WC for “Air India Champions 24 World Cup,” departed from Bridgetown, Barbados, and arrived in Delhi after a 16-hour nonstop journey. Onboard the flight were not only the Indian team and its support staff but also players’ families, board officials, and members of the media contingent.

Due to Hurricane Beryl, the team had to delay their return home, but they were finally able to make it back to India. Upon landing at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, fans gathered to welcome the victorious team.

The Indian cricket team is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi before heading to Mumbai where they will take part in an open bus victory parade and be honored in a felicitation ceremony at the Wankhede Stadium. The country is proud of their historic win and eagerly awaits their return home.
