US ambassador to India Eric Garcetti congratulated the Indian cricket team for their “incredible” victory in the T20 World Cup and lifting the title for the second time after 17 years. Garcetti took to Twitter to express his congratulations to #TeamIndia #MenInBlue for their outstanding performance in the final match against South Africa at Kensington Oval in Barbados’s Bridgetown.

In the final match, India posted a total of 176/7 after choosing to bat first, with notable contributions from Virat Kohli, Axar Patel, and Shivam Dube. However, South Africa put up a strong fight during their chase, with players like Quinton de Kock and Tristan Stubbs challenging the Indian spinners.

The match came down to the wire in the last few overs, with Indian bowlers, led by Jasprit Bumrah, putting up a strong defense against South Africa. The decisive moment came when David Miller was dismissed after Suryakumar Yadav took a spectacular catch near the boundary line. This victory marked India’s second T20 World Cup win after their previous triumph in 2007.

During the tournament, USA also made a mark by defeating Canada and Pakistan and giving a tough fight to India in group stages. Despite this success early on, they were unable to progress further in Super 8 as they lost matches against teams such as South Africa
