India has condemned Pakistan’s oppressive policies in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK) that deny local people the right to their own resources. The Indian foreign ministry expressed concern over ongoing protests in POK, stating that they are a direct result of Pakistan’s exploitation of resources in the territories it forcefully occupies.

According to spokesman Randhir Jaiswal, Pakistan’s policies have deprived the local population of their rights and the benefits that come with owning their resources. Jaiswal reiterated that Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh are and will always be integral parts of India.

Earlier this week, Foreign Minister S Jaishankar acknowledged the unrest in POK, noting a comparison being made between the situation in POK and Jammu and Kashmir. Jaishankar highlighted the progress in the latter region, indicating dissatisfaction among the populace in POK.

Recent reports from Dawn newspaper revealed a tense situation in POK, with businesses, banks, and transportation services being disrupted in Muzaffarabad. Violent clashes between security forces and protesters erupted over issues such as high wheat flour and electricity prices, resulting in casualties and injuries. The unrest underscores the grievances of the local population against perceived injustices and exploitation by the occupying authorities.
