In Rafah, strikes and demonstrations continue in solidarity with Gaza. Meanwhile, in Paris, thousands gathered for a march through the streets in honor of Clément Méric, an 18-year-old anti-fascist activist killed by ultra-right skinheads ten years ago. The march also supported the Palestinian and Kanak peoples.

The demonstration began from Place de la République with a banner that read “For Clément, let’s continue the fight.” Various anti-fascist groups honored his memory and spoke out against the rise of the ultra-right. This year, protesters were joined by pro-Palestinian activists condemning Israeli bombings in Gaza and supporters of the New Caledonian separatists.

Several signs and banners displayed messages such as “Stop the genocide in Rafah,” “Stop genocide,” and “All Eyes on Rafah.” Flags from organizations like Workers’ Struggle, the NPA, and Anti-fascist Solidarity were visible in the crowd. Participants voiced their commitment to various causes, including anti-imperialism, anti-colonialism, and support for the Palestinian and Kanak peoples.

The protests in Paris are part of a larger movement that has been ongoing for several days in various French cities. Demonstrators are speaking out against the violence in Gaza perpetrated by the Israeli army. Calls for gatherings have been made in cities like Lyon, Toulouse, and Lille to show solidarity with the people of Gaza. These demonstrations coincide with continued airstrikes and artillery fire in Rafah, just one day after American President Joe Biden presented a roadmap towards a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. The protests in France reflect a global call to end the violence against the Palestinian people.
