The cast and creators of Immaculate were interviewed by SXSW Studio host JuJu Green just before the late-night World Premiere at the 2024 SXSW Film & TV Festival. Director Michael Mohan discussed setting the actors in locations from classic 70’s Italian horror films, his long-time collaboration with cinematographer Elisha Christian, and his return to SXSW after finding success with his short film Pink Grapefruit in 2015.

Mohan expressed his gratitude for being at SXSW, stating that winning the jury prize for Pink Grapefruit launched his career in a significant way. The connections made on past projects, such as Everything Sucks!, The Voyeurs, Euphoria, and The White Lotus, brought old friends and cast-mates to the set of Immaculate, creating a sense of familiarity and collaboration.

Andrew Lobel, the writer of Immaculate, praised Sydney Sweeney for her fearless performance that pushed boundaries and surprised everyone involved in the project. Sweeney’s dedication to her role and willingness to explore darker and grittier themes made a significant impact on the film. The World Premiere of Immaculate took place at 10pm on March 12, marking the horror screening as a late-night attraction for attendees. The red carpet interviews before the screening added to the anticipation and excitement surrounding the film.
