In the heart of Budapest, a sea of national flags filled Heroes’ Square as people from all corners of the country gathered to rally for change. Plaques with messages such as “The future of Hungary is in your hands,” “Hungary – wake up!” and “We want peace!” lined the square, echoing the sentiments of those who had come together to demand a shift in government.

During a passionate speech, the Hungarian Vice-chairman of the “Respect and Peace” (TISZA) party declared that TISZA was the true peace party and encouraged the crowd to vote for peace by supporting TISZA. He criticized the ruling party Fidesz for their stance on conscription, sending soldiers, and building weapons factories, stating that TISZA would not pursue these actions.

The speaker reflected on his campaign tour across numerous towns and municipalities, promoting the TISZA party, which had garnered strong support according to polls. Despite smear campaigns against him and TISZA, funded by the government, he noted that these tactics only served to strengthen the TISZA party and thanked the government for inadvertently boosting their popularity.

The aim of the gathering was to bring about a change in government, ending the sole rule of Fidesz and returning Hungary to a more European-focused approach. The speaker emphasized the need to combat corruption, join the EU public prosecutor’s office, and implement social programs for various groups within Hungarian society.
