The offices of Chinese group Huawei in France were searched in a judicial procedure related to allegations of breaches of probity. This preliminary investigation was conducted by magistrates from the National Financial Prosecutor’s Office (PNF). However, details regarding the findings of the investigation are not clear. The French headquarters of Huawei is located in Boulogne-Billancourt (Hauts-de-Seine), near the Paris ring road.

Earlier this year, the French Anti-Corruption Agency reported possible abuse of corporate assets and tax fraud by Huawei, which led to a preliminary investigation opened in Nanterre. On the other hand, Huawei is currently building a factory in Alsace, aimed at starting production of equipment for mobile telecom networks, particularly 5G, by the end of 2025. Despite facing strong restrictions in France, Huawei maintains a 20% share of the French telecoms infrastructure market.

The United States has accused Huawei of being able to spy for the benefit of Chinese authorities, which Huawei has strongly denied. However, despite these allegations and warnings from various countries and organizations, including the European Commission which views Chinese telecom equipment suppliers as a security risk to the European Union, Huawei remains the world’s leading equipment manufacturer for 5G.
