A mistake in the tender documents for the construction of 2,526 apartments in Ashkelon has led to apartment buyers paying 10% more than they should have. This error was caused by a clerical mistake in determining the timing and volume of linking the cost of an apartment to the construction work cost index, which varies in the “Housing for New Residents” program compared to standard ones.

The Land Authority’s tender committee has ruled that this mistake now applies to the Peretz Bonei HaNegev company, which constructed 180 apartments in Ashkelon, including 126 within the “Housing for New Residents” framework. However, it is expected that this ruling will impact other companies involved in the project as well.

According to The Marker, the commission found that the company was acting in bad faith by concealing a clear error in the documentation and only revealing it five years later, after customers had raised complaints. This error has led to a significant financial burden for apartment buyers, prompting further investigation and potential action against the responsible parties.
