In a significant victory for veterans and military families, the House Committee on Appropriations has advanced the Fiscal Year 2025 Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations Bill. The bill aims to fully fund veterans’ health care programs and benefits, support military families, and strengthen America’s defense.

Idaho Congressman Mike Simpson, Chairman of the House Interior and Environment Appropriations Subcommittee, played a critical role in supporting the advancement of this legislation. Rep. Simpson emphasized the importance of upholding the nation’s promise to care for and support those who have defended our freedoms. He stated that the legislation fully funds veterans’ health care programs, benefits, and all other veterans-related programs.

Highlights of the bill include protecting the 2nd Amendment rights of veterans by preventing the VA from sending information to the FBI about veterans without a judge’s consent. This measure was approved by the Committee with a vote of 34 to 25.

Rep. Simpson and other members of the Committee are hopeful that this funding package will receive necessary support from both chambers of Congress to benefit veterans and strengthen America’s defense.
