Applications will be open until July 8, or until July 1 for programs that require additional checks. The final enrollment lists will be published on July 10. This summer, about 41,000 students are enrolled in high school in Croatia. There are 48,135 places available, which theoretically means there are more places than students.

Students can choose from around 300 schools offering two seven-year high school programs, including those in minority mother tongues and foreign languages. There are also around 60 four-year professional programs and more than 75 three-year professional and vocational programs in about 750 schools. To apply to most high schools in Croatia, students need to reach a certain points threshold, which ranges from approximately 60 to 70 points. In Zagreb, it is expected to have competition for high schools, with schools such as MIOC and XV gymnasium requiring 77 points each while others have varying thresholds.

Points are calculated based on various factors including general grade point average (GPA), average of individual subjects, entrance exams and additional conditions that can earn students extra points. Students applying for high school must register their applications through the upisi.hr system where their points will be automatically calculated based on these criteria. Each student can choose up to six programs and they will automatically be enrolled in the program they have the best place for after the final list is closed. It’s important to note that applicants should keep their first priority school in mind when applying as well as meeting all required conditions before submitting their application form .
