In a shocking revelation, authorities discovered a woman administering intravenous fluids to customers at a coffee shop in District 1 without a practicing certificate or operating license. The incident took place on Hoang Sa Street, where customers were sitting on the second floor sipping their coffee while the woman performed an IV infusion in a secluded corner. The IV contained a mixture of saline solution, vitamin B, vitamin C, and glucose.

The woman offering the “sea water infusion service” was 32 years old and claimed to have completed a one-year primary medical course in the 4th Army Corps in 2009. Despite not having a medical practice certificate, she had been performing infusions at home for two clients in June for a fee of VND350,000 per person. As a result of the surprise inspection, the Department of Health issued a fine of 80 million VND for practicing without a certificate and operating without a license. They instructed the woman to stop her activities until all necessary documentation was obtained.

During the investigation, authorities also discovered that the woman was promoting her services on a Facebook page titled “Sea water infusion at home – Medical examination and treatment service at home in Ho Chi Minh City.” The page was associated with an unlicensed medical service company in Binh Tan district that had briefly performed home infusions before ceasing operations. Instead of focusing on providing medical examinations and treatments directly, they now connect doctors and nurses with patients through their website vmedi.com.vn.

The website currently has over 40 registered accounts, including 20 approved healthcare professionals who are available to provide services when needed. Although there is still demand for home medical services amidst crackdowns on unauthorized practices, strict regulation and oversight are necessary to ensure patient safety and well-being.

The discovery highlights how important it is for individuals offering health services to have proper certification and licenses to prevent harm to patients. It also underscores the need for stricter enforcement of regulations against unauthorized medical practices that can pose risks to public health.

Overall, this case serves as an example of how even seemingly small-scale operations can have serious consequences if they do not comply with regulations set by authorities. It is crucial that individuals and businesses adhere strictly to these regulations to ensure that patients receive safe and effective healthcare services.
