Hibernian forward Elie Youan has been approached by a French Ligue 1 club with an offer to join their team, according to sources. While the specific club has not been named, the offer has been received and is currently being considered by the Hibs board. However, they have yet to appoint a successor to their recently sacked head coach, Nick Montgomery.

Meanwhile, other clubs have also expressed interest in Youan. The 25-year-old Frenchman joined Hibernian on a permanent deal last summer after spending the previous season on loan from Swiss club St Gallen. During his time at Hibs, he scored nine goals in the 2023-24 season but did not play in any of the club’s final five matches as they finished in the bottom half of the table.

Malky Mackay, who was appointed as sporting director at Hibernian earlier this month following Montgomery’s dismissal, will be responsible for hiring a new manager when he officially starts his role on June 1st. Mackay had previously managed Ross County and David Gray, a former Hibernian captain who served as interim manager for the final two games of the season, has expressed his readiness to take on the job permanently after his fourth stint as interim boss.
