The Louisiana Minority Business Development Agency Business Center is hosting a business conference in Baton Rouge to help small business owners succeed. Titled “EmpowerED Entrepreneurs: Accelerating Success” Small Business Training Conference, the event will take place from July 14-15 at the Renaissance Hotel on Bluebonnet Blvd.

The conference will kick off with a Small Business Awards Reception on Sunday, July 14 from 6-8 p.m., followed by the Training Conference on Monday, July 15 from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. LAMBDA’s Executive Director, Charletta Fortson, emphasized the focus on empowering small and minority-owned businesses with proper training and resources to accelerate their success. The conference will feature over 20 different sessions offering knowledge for all attendees.

Some of the notable speakers at the conference include Henry Coaxum Jr., former owner of 147 McDonald’s restaurants and now a real estate developer and philanthropist, Nortisha Kirts Glover, owner of NRK Construction, and Eric Porter, entrepreneur and instructor for the Affordable Housing Program offered by Southern University’s EDA University. Attendees will also have the opportunity to learn from industry pioneer Derrick Surrat, founder of the Federal Forecasting application, on how to maximize their government contracting strategy.
