Headway Technology Group, a leading Chinese marine equipment provider, has secured a significant contract to supply methanol fuel supply systems for dual-fuel bulk carriers owned by Fujian Guohang Ocean Shipping (Group). Under this agreement, Headway will provide its advanced equipment for 4+6 vessels, which are 89,000 dwt methanol dual-fuel bulk carriers.

The contract includes core modules such as bunkering and transfer systems, methanol fuel treatment units, nitrogen systems, and control and security systems. The vessels will be powered by MAN B&W 6S60ME-C10.5-LGIM-EGRBP engines and will be built at Wuhu Shipyard with Headway’s OceanGuard methanol fuel supply systems.

This is a major breakthrough for Headway Technology as the first four vessels in this series are currently under construction and are expected to be delivered between 2025 and 2026. Headway describes OceanGuard as the first domestic mature solution for a methanol fuel supply system successfully tested for large marine dual-fuel engines.

In addition to this contract, Headway Technology has also partnered with Italy’s Fratelli Cosulich to provide a methanol fuel supply system for a 7,990 DWT methanol dual-fuel tanker. This tanker will utilize MAN 21/31DF-M generators as the main propulsion power and will be the world’s first vessel of its kind. The vessel will be equipped with Headway’s OceanGuard supply system and is scheduled for delivery in late 2025.

Headway intends to focus on low-carbon shipping trends and ship intelligence in the future, aiming to provide green solutions for its partners in the maritime industry. With this latest contract win, Headway continues to establish itself as a leading provider of advanced marine equipment solutions in China and beyond.
