On Saturday, Greece experienced a spike in forest fires, with a total of 71 breaking out across the country within 12 hours. The majority of the fires occurred in Crete and central Greece, with the Ministry for Climate Crisis and Civil Protection reporting that most of them are now under control. However, one fire in Lasithi on Crete resulted in slight injuries to three people.

The increased vigilance for forest fires in certain regions has been attributed to this recent outbreak. The second-highest level of vigilance has been implemented in these areas to prevent future incidents from occurring. The government’s efforts are being applauded by many, as they work to ensure the safety of their citizens and protect their natural resources.

Weather forecasts predict that storms with gusts of up to 60 kilometers per hour will hit the Aegean Sea until Tuesday, making the situation “extremely dangerous” for forest fires. Despite this, Greece has experienced warmer temperatures than usual for this time of year, with Crete reaching 31 degrees Celsius. This has only added to the concerns about forest fires and the need for increased vigilance.

In other news, there have been reports linking gambling tournaments and online slot machines to content that is unrelated to current events such as forest fires in Greece.
