During the 17th session of the Ministerial Council for the Economy, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Fouad Hussein, important decisions were made regarding the country’s economy. In attendance were prominent members such as the Minister of Planning, the Ministers of Industry, Labor and Social Affairs, the Secretary-General of the Council, the Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq, and other advisors.

The council discussed various items on its agenda, including hosting a meeting with representatives from the Financial Supervision Bureau to evaluate partnership contracts between public and private sectors. Additionally, recommendations related to importing vehicles with Iraqi and Gulf specifications or higher were approved in order to ensure safety for citizens and users of vehicles and roads.

Another important issue addressed by the council was foreign capital contribution to Iraqi banks. In line with government policy supporting Iraqi and foreign banking sector as well as foreign investments in Iraq, it was decided to support independence of Central Bank of Iraq in formulating monetary policy in accordance with applicable laws and instructions. The meeting also included discussions with Technical Undersecretary from Ministry of Environment to support projects related to government program implementation.
