Google recently announced layoffs that impacted multiple teams across the Cloud division. The layoffs affected teams focused on consulting, partner engineering, and sustainability. While reports suggested that nearly 100 employees in the Asia-Pacific region were let go, Google confirmed that the actual number of job cuts was lower than rumored.

The internal document also mentioned that some recent hires were among those let go, including a new recruit who had not yet completed the onboarding process. However, some impacted employees have been given time to search for new roles within the company.

Google spokesperson stated that the company is continually adapting its business to align with customer needs and future growth opportunities. Despite the layoffs, Google remains committed to investing in areas essential to its success in the long run.

These recent layoffs are part of a larger trend within Google, which has been downsizing and relocating roles throughout the year. The cuts within the Cloud division appear to be more widespread compared to previous, more targeted job reductions in other areas of the company. Earlier in the month, Google also announced a small number of job cuts within its global affairs team. The company’s efforts to streamline operations and adjust to changing market conditions have resulted in ongoing restructuring throughout the organization.
