Google has launched a new program in Latin America to promote technology skills that are in high demand in the region. The program offers scholarships that lead to career certificates upon completion of courses, with the goal of providing individuals with opportunities to positively impact their lives by gaining new skills, increasing their salaries, advancing their careers or even changing career paths.

The rapid evolution of technology, such as artificial intelligence, has created challenges for businesses in the region due to a lack of qualified talent. The program aims to address this gap by generating new talent that can meet the demands of emerging technologies and help companies become more efficient and innovative.

In addition to addressing the talent shortage in the technology sector, the program also aims to reduce gender inequality by encouraging more women to pursue careers in technology. Google has partnered with Women In Tech to help integrate more female talent into the technology sector.

The program offers flexible courses ranging from 3 to 6 months, with approximately 10 hours of study per week. These courses are available on the online platform Coursera, allowing participants to learn at their own pace. The results of the program have been positive, with many graduates reporting career advancements, salary increases and new job opportunities.

Google will introduce a new course on Fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence this year to help develop the region’s technological capabilities. The program aims to democratize access to information and education through technology, aligning with Google’s mission to make information universally useful for everyone.

To apply for the scholarships, individuals must be over 18 years old and residents of Peru. Women In Tech will be responsible for selecting scholarship recipients prioritizing those from underrepresented groups or unemployed individuals or those in informal jobs. Interested individuals can register on the program’s website starting May 24th with scholarships awarded starting June 17th .
