Google has just announced the implementation of the ‘Find my device’ feature in Spain. This service allows users to locate their equipment and accessories, even if they are not connected to the internet. It supports tracking devices from other brands as well. ‘Find my device’ is a service developed by Google for Android operating systems. It helps users find their linked devices remotely in case of theft or loss, as well as delete all the data on the device.

Initially rolled out in Canada and the United States, this expanded feature now includes the ability to locate Android phones or tablets without an internet connection. Google also mentioned that third-party tracking accessories from brands like Chipolo and Pebblebee will be compatible with ‘Find my device’ as long as they support the feature. Users in Spain can expect this offline device search service to be available in the coming days.

The service will utilize more than one billion devices in the Android community to store recent device locations, encrypted using PIN, pattern, or password configured by the users. Only users will have access to these locations, as Google and other entities cannot view or use them for any other purpose. Users will receive a notification on their Android devices when the function is activated.

For those who do not wish to participate in this network, they can disable the service through the web interface. The chosen option will apply to all devices linked to the Gmail account.
