In a major announcement, Google is expanding the availability of NotebookLM, an AI-powered research and writing assistant. The enhanced version now incorporates Gemini 1.5 Pro in over 200 countries and territories.

NotebookLM is designed to streamline the research and writing process by allowing users to quickly understand complex material, make connections, and create drafts. Users can upload a variety of documents, including research notes, transcripts, and corporate documents, to the platform for assistance.

The latest update includes new multimodal capabilities of Gemini 1.5 Pro that allow users to ask questions about images, graphs, and diagrams in their feeds. NotebookLM will even provide citations to images as supporting evidence when relevant.

When accessing NotebookLM for the first time, users need to create a “notebook” and upload their project documents. With NotebookLM, users can read, take notes, ask questions, organize ideas, and request automatic summaries or study guides. Google assures that the uploaded sources are not used to train the model.

Overall, the expansion of NotebookLM with Gemini 1.5 Pro offers a comprehensive research and writing assistant that leverages AI technology to improve productivity and facilitate the creation of high-quality content.
