Lilia Vu, the world’s second-ranked golfer, has withdrawn from the 79th U.S. Women’s Open due to an ongoing back injury. She last competed in late March at the Ford Championship, where she tied for 21st. Vu’s spot in the field at Lancaster Country Club has been taken by Yealimi Noh, who advanced from the Rainier Golf and Country Club in Seattle after shooting 69-73. This will be Noh’s fourth appearance at the U.S. Women’s Open, having won the U.S. Girls’ Junior title in 2018.

Vu had to withdraw from the Chevron Championship in April, where she was defending her title, due to pain during her warm-up session. The former UCLA standout won four times on the LPGA last season and spent 28 weeks as the No. 1 player in the Rolex Rankings. The final field of 156 players for the U.S. Women’s Open will be finalized on Monday after the release of the Rolex Rankings.
