Wrexham has secured the signing of goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo on a three-year deal after his release from Arsenal. The 22-year-old spent last season on loan at the club, helping them earn promotion to League One. He kept 16 clean sheets during the season and will officially join Wrexham on July 1st when his contract with Arsenal expires.
The return of Okonkwo to Wrexham was eagerly anticipated by the club, with manager Phil Parkinson describing it as a great first signing of the summer. Parkinson praised Okonkwo’s performance last season and highlighted the effort put into securing the goalkeeper’s return. In addition to Okonkwo, defender Aaron James has also agreed to a new one-year contract with Wrexham. The 18-year-old made his debut against Altrincham in the FA Trophy and his first league start against Salford City last season.
Wrexham has also signed veterans Mark Howard and Steven Fletcher on one-year contract extensions. This signing spree reflects the club’s commitment to building a strong team for their upcoming campaign in League One. The additions of young talents like James alongside experienced players like Howard and Fletcher show a balance in the squad, which Wrexham hopes will lead to success in the upcoming season.
