The New York Giants celebrated their 100th year as an NFL franchise with a special event at The Theater at Madison Square Garden on Thursday night. One of the highlights of the evening was the unveiling of the greatest play in team history, which turned out to be David Tyree’s famous “helmet catch” in Super Bowl XLII.

Despite facing stiff competition from other memorable moments such as Victor Cruz’s 99-yard touchdown catch against the Jets in 2011, Eli Manning-to-Mario Manningham’s connection in Super Bowl XLVI, and Odell Beckham Jr.’s incredible one-handed touchdown catch on Sunday Night Football in 2014, Tyree’s catch was voted the top play in Giants history.

Tyree himself was present at the event and shared his thoughts on his iconic catch being chosen as the best in team history. Eli Manning, who threw the pass to Tyree, also made an appearance and jokingly reminisced about the play, calling it a classic moment for the team.
