Darren Waller, the 31-year-old tight end for the Giants, has been contemplating retirement throughout the offseason. According to reports, he is close to making a decision and may retire before next week’s mandatory minicamp. People close to Waller believe that he is leaning towards retirement.

In response to the uncertainty surrounding Waller, the Giants have made moves at the tight end position. They selected Theo Johnson in the fourth round of the draft and have been taking first-team snaps during Phase III of the offseason program. The team also has other tight ends on the roster including Daniel Ballinger, Lawrence Cager, Tyree Jackson, Chris Manhertz, and Jack Stoll. With Waller potentially retiring, the Giants have been preparing for different scenarios to address the tight end position.

Throughout the offseason, Waller has been publicly contemplating retirement and mentioned wanting to make a decision by the end of the offseason program. New York’s mandatory minicamp is scheduled for next Tuesday and Wednesday. However, it is not yet clear if Waller will attend any voluntary offseason activities this year.
