Blake Snell’s adductor injury forced him to leave the Giants-Yankees game in the 7-5 loss at Oracle Park. In the top of the fifth inning, with the Giants leading 3-1, Snell appeared to hurt himself while pitching to Alex Verdugo with bases loaded and two outs. He walked off the field with senior director of athletic training Dave Groeschner, and it was later announced that he left the game with a tight left groin.

Before his injury, Snell was having one of his best games of the season. He had been charged with only one run when he was replaced by left-handed pitcher Erik Miller, who gave up a two-run double to Verdugo that tied the game at three. The Giants Talk Podcast provides more insights and analysis on the game and the impact of Snell’s injury.

The possibility of Snell going on the IL after an MRI on Monday was mentioned by Manager Bob Melvin following the game. The sudden end to Snell’s outing caused an abrupt halt in what had been a closely contested match between these two rival teams.
