The New York Giants have been ranked in the middle of the pack by Pro Football Focus despite having the best nose tackle in football, Dexter Lawrence. The Giants’ defense is undergoing a transitional phase with new defensive coordinator Shane Bowen and a move from a 3-4 base to a more hybrid scheme.

Lawrence has excelled at rushing the passer more effectively than any other nose tackle in the game and has been a standout player for the Giants. However, the team is looking for Kayvon Thibodeaux to step up and generate consistent pressure alongside Burns. Thibodeaux reached double-digit sacks in his second year but struggled with generating pressure consistently.

The Giants’ front seven includes veteran Jordan Phillips, Rakeem Nunez-Roches, and a group of young players eager to make an impact. Bowen has hinted at a less blitz-heavy approach compared to the previous season but maintaining a strong pass rush remains a priority. The development of Thibodeaux will be crucial for the success of the Giants’ defense as they prepare for the upcoming season.
