In recent news, the Giants have signed fourth-round pick Theo Johnson, becoming the fifth member of this year’s draft class to join the team. Johnson, a tight end, has agreed to a four-year deal with the Giants. This leaves only second-round safety Tyler Nubin as the only unsigned selection from the six-player class.
During his time at Penn State, Johnson had 77 catches for 938 yards and 12 touchdowns over 44 games. In the 2023 season alone, he had 34 catches and seven touchdowns. With Daniel Bellinger, Jack Stoll, Chris Manhertz, Lawrence Cager, and Tyree Jackson already on board for the upcoming season, the Giants now have a solid group of tight ends.
However, there is some uncertainty regarding the status of Darren Waller, who is currently under contract but has been considering retirement. Waller has not yet made a final decision about his plans for the 2024 season, adding a layer of intrigue to the Giants’ tight end situation moving forward.
