The Giants activated infielder LaMonte Wade Jr. off the Injured List prior to their series-opener against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday night at Oracle Park. To make room on the roster, infielder Thairo Estrada (left wrist sprain) and Wilmer Flores (right knee tendinitis) were placed on the IL. Shortstop Tyler Fitzgerald was also recalled from Triple-A Sacramento.

Wade, who had been out since May 28 with a hamstring injury, completed a rehab assignment with Sacramento before being activated. Giants manager Bob Melvin expressed his excitement about Wade’s return, highlighting his on-base percentage and clutch factor that were missed while he was out. Wade had been batting .333 with two home runs, 17 RBIs, and a career-best .896 OPS in 52 games before his injury.

Estrada, who leads the Giants with 39 RBIs and is tied for second with nine home runs, was placed on the IL during a slump where he was batting .164 with three extra-base hits in 18 games. Melvin mentioned that Estrada had been dealing with thumb and wrist issues, among other things. Other injury updates included Kyle Harrison’s successful bullpen session after being scratched from his last start due to an ankle injury. Alex Cobb also threw a bullpen session and is set to make a rehab start with Single-A San Jose on Sunday.
