As the Nebraska Cornhuskers prepare to kick off their 2024 season, we are counting down to kickoff with a profile of wide receiver Jacory Barney Jr. Barney, a true freshman, signed with the Huskers as part of the 2024 recruiting class from Miami Palmetto High School in Florida. He was ranked as a three-star recruit by most recruiting services, with Rivals being the only one to rank him as a four-star prospect.

Barney received over two dozen scholarship offers during his recruitment, including offers from schools like Arizona, Miami (FL), Michigan, and Texas A&M. In the Huskers’ annual spring game, Barney showed promise with three receptions for 66 yards and one touchdown.

Despite being a true freshman, fans can expect to see plenty of Barney on the field this fall. He is expected to have an immediate impact and contribute to the Huskers’ rotation at wide receiver. While it’s uncertain how big of a role he’ll have, he has already shown promise in spring practice and could be a key player in Nebraska’s offense.
