Geissler’s Supermarkets has recently announced the acquisition of Fitzgerald’s Foods, a family-owned supermarket in Simsbury, Connecticut. This acquisition is expected to be finalized in mid-June and will involve the purchase of a substantial majority of assets from Lussier Ventures Inc., which operates as Fitzgerald’s Foods.

The decision to acquire Fitzgerald’s Foods comes after Geissler’s recently renovated one of its locations in Granby, Connecticut, expanding its produce, bakery, and deli departments as well as adding a new kitchen for family meals. Geissler’s President and CEO, Bob Rybick, expressed his excitement about the acquisition and welcomed the DeVoes into the Geissler’s family. He recognized Fitzgerald’s Foods long history in Simsbury of providing fresh foods and friendly service to the community.

Geissler’s currently operates six stores in various cities in Connecticut and Massachusetts. These include locations in Bloomfield, East Windsor, Somers, South Windsor, Granby, Windsor as well as Agawam, Massachusetts. The acquisition is subject to final licensing and approvals but is expected to bring a new level of convenience and variety to shoppers in Simsbury.
