All data collected during GEDI’s first epoch have been processed and released as Version 2 products to the appropriate Distributed Active Archives Centers (DAACs). These centers include the Land Processes DAAC (LP DAAC) and Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) DAAC. To learn more about these centers and other aspects of Earth Science data collection and processing, readers can refer to the March-April 2017 issue of The Earth Observer.

The LP DAAC houses GEDI Level-1 (L1) data, which includes geolocated waveforms, as well as L2 data consisting of L2A and L2B products. L2A data includes ground elevation, canopy height, and relative height metrics, while L2B data includes canopy cover fraction (CCF) and leaf area index (LAI). On the other hand, the ORNL DAAC houses GEDI L3 gridded land surface metrics data, L4A footprint level aboveground biomass density data, and L4B gridded aboveground biomass density data.

More information on the waveform measurements used in GEDI data collection can be found in a sidebar in the November-December 2016 issue of The Earth Observer. Figures and additional information regarding the data stored at ORNL DAAC, LP DAAC, and other relevant entities can be found in the corresponding articles in The Earth Observer.
