The advisory for Gauch Park Pond on Lake Quinsigamond has been lifted, as of the date of record, 06-27-24. This was due to high levels of E. Coli detected during routine seasonal weekly water quality monitoring. However, recent samples have shown that the water quality is now within acceptable and safe limits.

Gauch Park Pond is located at the corner of North Quinsigamond Avenue and Main Street in Shrewsbury. The Worcester Division of Public Health (WDPH) and the Town of Shrewsbury’s Board of Health had implemented the advisory until further testing could confirm the water quality levels. During this time, individuals and their pets were advised to avoid contact with the water, including fishing.

Now that the advisory has been lifted, there are no restrictions in place for Gauch Park Pond. Residents and visitors can safely enjoy the pond and participate in activities on or near the water.

It is important to stay informed about any updates or changes in water quality to ensure the safety of all individuals. If you have any concerns about water quality at Gauch Park Pond or any other body of water, please contact your local health department for more information.

The lifting of this advisory marks a significant step towards ensuring that residents and visitors can safely enjoy this beautiful natural resource in Shrewsbury.
