The Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) has announced that the benchmark price for gas that serves as a reference for suppliers will be set at 129.20 euros per megawatt-hour (MWh) on average for consumers starting July 1st. This marks an increase of 13.50 euros per MWh from June, representing a rise of +11.7%.

Emmanuelle Wargon, the president of the CRE, explains that this price update is based on market prices and follows a series of previous declines in recent months. However, despite this increase, the current price is not as high as it was back in January.

The removal of regulated gas sales prices has led to this change in the benchmark price, which will now be used by suppliers to determine their own pricing strategies. Consumers will need to monitor their gas bills closely to ensure they are not being overcharged based on this new price.
