Gap Inc. recently appointed Sven Gerjets as its new Chief Technology Officer, bringing with him over six years of experience from his time at Mattel. At Mattel, he was responsible for overseeing various aspects of technology and innovation, including shared tech platforms, AI, software and hardware development, blockchain, and connected product design. Additionally, he led the toymaker’s data security and privacy initiatives.

As CEO Richard Dickson communicated to employees, the appointment of Gerjets is crucial in strengthening Gap’s platform as the company expands its portfolio of brands. Dickson emphasized that it is essential for the technology portfolio and digital roadmap to support the revitalization of the brands and foster stronger connections with customers to achieve the company’s objectives.

Reporting directly to Dickson, Gerjets will play a vital role in driving technological advancements within the company. Dickson, a former Mattel executive himself, took over as President and CEO of Gap Inc. in 2023. Prior to his role at Mattel, Gerjets served as the Chief Information Officer at Time Warner Cable, where he oversaw the consolidation of IT and cybersecurity groups during the acquisition by Charter Communications. He also held prominent positions at Pearson Education and DirectTV.

Dickson highlighted the potential of technology to enhance efficiency, drive product development, and enhance customer engagement in his communication to staff. He expressed confidence in Gerjets’ expertise and leadership to navigate the company in the right direction towards success. The new Chief Technology Officer will be taking over from Gurmeet Singh who left his position as Chief Digital and Technology Officer at Gap Inc.[
