NBA rumors are rampant during the off-season, especially leading up to the draft and free agency. A single rumor or speculation can quickly gain traction and dominate headlines, even if there is little substance to it. Recently, ESPN reported that the Houston Rockets were interested in trading for Kevin Durant. What started as a post by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski spiraled into a day of discussions on the network.

As NBA Draft night approaches, people engage in discussions about various storylines and rumors. Some of these turn out to be accurate while others do not. Mat Ishbia took to Twitter to express his belief that Phoenix is committed to competing for a championship with Kevin Durant on the team. Reports from respected sources in Phoenix, as well as comments from scouts and front office personnel from other teams, have consistently reinforced the idea that the Suns intend to keep their core intact and make a run for a title.

While some fans may be intrigued by the possibility of a trade involving Kevin Durant or Devin Booker, it appears that there is no intention on Phoenix’s part to part ways with its star players. Conversations with reporters may have conveyed Houston’s desire to acquire assets from Phoenix in case a trade becomes necessary, but this does not appear to be currently under consideration by the Suns. As Mat Ishbia emphasized, there is no Kevin Durant trade on the horizon as the team remains focused on its goal of contending for an NBA championship with its current roster.
