Kim Do-hoon, a talented coach with experience in leading South Korea at the youth level, has been appointed to lead the senior team in the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Singapore and China in June. This decision was made by the Korean Football Association (KFA) after they were unable to secure a permanent coach to replace Jurgen Klinsmann.

Klinsmann, a German coach, had been leading South Korea since 2018 but was dismissed in February following their disappointing performance in the semifinals of the Asian Cup. Despite having star players like Son Heung-min and Lee Kang-in on their squad, South Korea failed to produce a shot on target in the 2-0 loss to Jordan.

In his absence, Under-23 coach Hwang Sun-hong stepped up and led the senior team to a 1-1 draw and a 3-0 win over Thailand in the last round of World Cup qualifiers in March. The KFA had originally aimed to have a new permanent coach in place before the June fixtures but ultimately turned to Kim Do-hoon for the upcoming matches.

Kim Do-hoon has previously coached South Korea’s Under-17 and Under-20 teams and is known for his ability to develop young talent. With no permanent coach available, he will be tasked with leading South Korea through these crucial qualifiers and guiding them towards success on the field.
